Overview

The banana plugs are used on the ends of patch cords for electronic test equipment, speaker wires, and probe leads. Various styles of banana plug contacts exist, common types include a tip of 4 leaf springs and 9 leaf springs, the spring produces a sung fit and good connectivity in the socket and prevents the pin from falling out.
The diameter of the pin for banana plug is usually 4mm which is why it is commonly called a 4mm plug, but banana plugs are also available with a diameter of 2mm.
The banana plugs are also divided into stackable or stacking plugs. The stackable plug has a 4mm or 2mm hole in the back to accommodate another 4mm plug or 2mm plug.
